The question was:
Assuming a Secure and Properly Private and Governed PCEHR What Consent Model Should Be Adopted?
Opt-In
- 19 (39%)
Opt-Out
28 (59%)
I Have No View
- 1 (2%)
Votes 48
A pretty clear vote. I have to say I am a little surprised that the Opt-Out vote was as high as it was - on a reasonable number participating.
Again, many thanks to those that voted!

The option that we should not be building a PCEHR, but should be enabling high quality provider to provider transfer of records was not there.
Once we had that in place a PCEHR could be implemented if there was a demand, by third parties and the issues of privacy would be solved.
Provider to provider messaging does not break any privacy principles and is what is actually needed. The PCEHR opens a can of worms that could be safely left in the ground pending patient demand.
We are spending billions to solve something that does not need a government solution while issues that are crying out for simple inexpensive governance are ignored. It seems to be a pattern that the Rudd/Gillard/Rudd government has set....
Agreed, but that was not the question. We have to be realistic and critique what they are doing - and on this basis the majority think they are wrong! Hardly news!
