AusHealthIT Poll Number 389 – Results – 24th September, 2017.

Here are the results of the poll.

On Average, Across GP Practices, Do You Believe The IT Security Processes and Arrangements Are Adequate To Fully Protect Patient Information Held In The myHR?

Yes 43% (51)

No 38% (45)

I Have No Idea 19% (23)

Total votes: 119

Interestingly a split vote with many confident of the security in general practice and a large minority no so much.

Clearly the implication is that things are nowhere near as good as they might be…..

Any insights welcome as a comment.

A great turnout of votes!

Again, many, many thanks to all those that voted!

David.

This was not a simple question David, from what I have interpreted from DoH and now ADHA, the MYHR is impregnable. I am interested in reading if anyone can point me to how a GP system creates a threat to the MyHR banking strength security walls. Has the Government undertaken a complete end to end threat and risk assessment involving all endpoints?

the MyHR certainly appears to have increased the likelihood any number of GP, pharmacy hospital and specialist information systems will be targeted to assertain vulnerabilities in the Governments system, is the next step the Government mandating it deploys and monitors access controls on every endpoint? The ADHA has an army of Security personnel now, I am guessing they will be seeking to run health like the ADF.

7:55AM, the Government would not undertake such an activity (not yet). The secure or unsecure nature of end points plays to their advantage, no breech all good, breech they have a way of shifting blame and public attention. As demonstrated over the years the DoH and ADoHA love to blame GP's and soon pharmacies as well as this blog, why? Who knows perhaps it is a safe place they retreat towards when reality comes knocking.
