The question was:
Will The NEHRS Make A Success Of Displaying Medicare Information?
For Sure 26% (15)
Probably 17% (10)
Possibly 31% (18)
No way 26% (15)
Total votes: 58
Very interesting response. About half say it will be a
success and just a few more say possibly not.
Again, many thanks to those that voted!
David.
I have answered "There is another explanation" to the next poll. I don't think the reaction is because they think it will fail. I also don't think it is an evidenced based approach. I do believe that it is a reaction to the doctors saying they want a proper charging model. Whether this is the correct charging model or not remains to be seen.
ReplyDeleteI answered another explanation as well.
ReplyDeleteThe govt believe that the additional work involved in uploading information is quite small, if the following is true:
1. The clinician (GP) was already keeping records up to the RACGP standards
2. The clinician already had those records electronically
3. The clinician's software integrates reasonably well.
Anecdotally some of the software that is currently in the chute has this as a very low impost over and above the work the clinician was already doing. We'll see whether that's true once the software is available "in the wild".
So I think the govt is trying to hose down the noise, and waiting for people to see the real thing and understand the impact.
They're clearly indicating that _if_ there is additional work, then they'll pay for that additional work. They just aren't yet convinced that the additional work is material in the context of a B v's C consult.
(PS: is it just me or are the captchas getting harder?)

ReplyDeleteCome on admit it - you are a robot.
