Answer: They are clearly a deeply unethical pusher of 'crapware'!
I suggest you find substitute software to their overpriced bloatware where ever you can!
They are just pathetic creeps.
Seem a few others have noticed.

I hope they stop this rubbish very, very soon. There are a lot of dodgy software providers who try this rubbish so watch your installers of downloaded software very carefully!
David.
p.s. They have not caught me yet - just annoyed me and wasted my time!

p.p.s. A kind commenter reminded me of Java and parent Oracle. Their 'crapware' attempts are arguably worse!

Java falls into that category as well. If you don't watch it, it installs other unwanted software.
ReplyDeleteYup - Java is a real pest. Tries to change all sorts of defaults, install the ASK Tool Bar etc. Actually worse the Adobe IMVHO!
ReplyDeleteDavid.
I overlooked some tick box when downloading Java update recently and found I also got ASK page as default screen. I discovered it was not possible to uninstall the software, simply doesn't let you. Fortunately there's a LOT of help online to get rid of this pest but it still wasted around three hours hunting down all the unlikely places this crap had burrowed into and removing it on my PC and laptop. So beware!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. This is a very ugly infestation as far as I can tell. If you have spotted other popular downloads that have this trap - please add to the list of shame!
ReplyDeleteWith any downloaded software the risk of major pain is very real. Same issue if you hit the wrong "download now" button!
