AusHealthIT Poll Number 473 – Results – 5th May, 2019.

Here are the results of the poll.

Is The Potential For Digital Health To Deliver Major Improvements To Clinical Outcomes And Patient Safety Over-hyped?

Yes 95% (122)

No 5% (7)

I Have No Idea 0% (0)

Total votes: 129

It seems most agree there is a bit too much hype and not enough delivery of outcomes out there!

Any insights on the poll welcome as a comment, as usual.

A more than reasonable turnout of votes!

It must have been a very easy question as only 0/129 readers were not sure what the appropriate answer was.

Again, many, many thanks to all those that voted!

David.

  1. For myself it is all done to overuse of buzzwords and simplifying the science of medicine. As important as clinical notes and administrative records are, let’s be honest, the MyHR and many of its cousins do not stand up against the enormous advances and benefits computer technologies deliver to medicine and healthcare.

I sense the same over reach of AI is occurring. People need to be informed that AI has its limits. It will struggle with context as it does with intent in other industries.

I am also tired of the likes of ADHA belittling our health system and those who perform excellent work. Fortunately in the real world ADHA has little effect so the damage is manageable.

  2. The politicians have abandoned ‘digital’ health as a worthy policy. Such high hopes and aspirations were held regarding ADHA and MyHR. Shame the outcome fell so far short of even the lowest expectations.
