Poor Old Queensland Health - They Got Two Bad Mentions In A Little Over A Week!

Late last week we have this:

Qld Health's new SAP ERP wobbles in week one

Minister cites error code 'PEBCAK' - Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard.

Queensland Health has suffered teething problems with its brand new $135 million SAP ERP system, just days after the long-overdue replacement system went live.
The Courier Mail reported on Friday that the system crashed shortly after being launched last Thursday, forcing hospital staff to resort to manually order supplies on credit cards and hoard stocks.
The new system is the result of the department’s second attempt to replace its 20-year-old SAP ERP suite known as known as the finance and materials management information system (FAMMIS).
An earlier effort to replace the system, which has been out of support for a decade, was aborted in 2014-15, and was replaced with the financial system renewal project (FSR) in December 2016.

All 16 hospital and health services and the department itself were originally meant to have moved to the new on-premises version of SAP's S/4HANA solution by the end of 2018.
But a series of integration and change management complications last year forced Queensland Health to funnel another $30 million into project and push back the rollout by several months.
Health and Ambulance Services Minister Steven Miles denied the problems were caused by a crash, describing the issues as relating to the use of the system and the “completion of electronic forms” by staff.
Speaking to the media, Miles said “The system itself is working broadly within what had been anticipated, but this is a very significant change management process,” adding that payments have been processed and items dispatched from warehouses.

Computer blunder forces Queensland hospitals back to paper records

Several south-east Queensland hospitals could not access electronic medical records for male patients for hours on Thursday because of a system update blunder.
Staff had to use paper records for the patients until the issue was resolved by 9.15am, when a backlog of data had to be entered into the Integrated Electronic Medical Record (ieMR) system.
A routine overnight system update, which merged outstanding information onto patients' electronic records, was started late and overlapped with morning elective patient arrivals.

A Queensland Health spokesman said only one health service was affected but Brisbane Times understands several hospitals across greater Brisbane and the Gold Coast were involved.
"ieMR continues to be available across the state this morning with no statewide outage," a Queensland Health spokesman said after the issue was resolved.
"There was a routine large data merge - normally done overnight - that started later than normal.
"Any site-specific issues resolved automatically on completion of the data merge."
While there was no direct impact on patient safety, there was a backlog of patient information, inpatient admissions and movement of male patients to input.

It almost look like whenever a Brisbane reporter is bored they ring up Queensland Health and ask them about the latest issue that is affecting them!
They (QH) really need to slow the rate of issues down as it is becoming just too silly!
