Revolutionising Australia’s Health Care
Dear Prof. xxxxx
The Department of Health and Ageing has the pleasure of inviting you to attend the upcoming National e-health Conference to be held on Tuesday 30 November and Wednesday 1 December 2010, at the Melbourne Convention Exhibition Centre.
This Conference is an important opportunity for stakeholders to discuss how e-health and telehealth will drive the delivery of health care into the future, including the personally controlled electronic health record system.
Over two days, compelling speakers will lead the conversation through plenary sessions, while subject matter specialists will lead streams that focus on the national e-health agenda. The full conference agenda will be made available shortly.
To confirm your attendance at the event, please visit www.ehealthconference.gov.au and complete the registration form using your unique identifier code below. You will be notified of the success of your registration shortly.
Places are limited, with priority registrations closing close of business Thursday 18th November, therefore early registration is encouraged.
Identifier code: Nope - only for the elites the Department likes.
Invitations are non-transferable.
All enquiries should be directed to events@eventplanet.com.au
----- End Extract.
Can I suggest you contact the Department / Your Local Federal MP and demand the right to attend?
I wonder will they fly you from Perth or Darwin to attend?
If you want an invite the web site says:
Didn't receive an invitation? Please contact the Conference Organiser.
We need to have lots of people ask I reckon. What a just pathetic approach that confirms all we knew was bad about DoHA’s e-health commonsense.
Can you believe this? I can’t. I wonder how many of the paid sponsored bloggers were invited?
Does this remind you of pink bats, mining taxes, citizen assemblies and so on? It does me as an index of competence. E-Health relies on serious clinician and consumer involvement - not just the out of touch non-leaders who have messed things up so badly over the last decade. Avoid grass roots expertise and you are doomed I believe!

Hmmm - if the taxpayers are paying for this, no doubt there will be some proceedings/findings/recommendations from bringing these selected stakeholders and experts together - there must be - otherwise why hold it?
How many registrations are available?
I can find no information on that. Not on the DoHA website I can see.
David.
How many sponsored bloggers are there? I'm only aware of Charles.
If you enter any value into the website, you can then register for an invitation. Who knows if you'll actually get one, but may be worth doing to give them some idea of the level of interest...if indeed their is any. Listening to Roxon talk isn't my idea of fun.

This conference isn't listed on NEHTA'S events Calendar.

Maybe NEHTA aren't attending/invited :-)
I've been around academic institutions for about 40 years and this is the first conference I've heard of that doesn't have a published programme two weeks out from the event. It's difficult to imagine any busy person giving up two days to attend something that's obviously been cobbled together at such short notice and with so little thought. Unless there is some hidden agenda that ordinary mortals haven't been told about...?
I agree with Achilles. This Minister announced the conference much to the surprise of her Department which then knee-jerked itself into instant action booking the venue and announcing the date and whereabouts of the conference.
Then pheeew - oh! let's prepare a program, get some presenters, appear to be collaborative, engage with the industry, tell them we love them and are listening to them at last and that we want them to tell us how to do what we haven't been able to do the last 5 years or more.
And let's do it all at short notice just before Christmas. And let's be selective about who we invite, make it a closed shop, invitees only and let's keep the program secret until we've worked out what the program will be!
What a circus. What a panic. And how silly has the Department made the Minister look? All that remains now is to ask when will the program be available, will the proceedings and discussions of the conference be recorded and available for all those of us who have been selectively excluded from attending, and will the conference be held or deferred until sometime in February when the conference can be properly planned and everyone will be fresh, vibrant ready for the year ahead?
