AusHealthIT Poll Number 551 – Results – 1st November, 2020.

Here are the results of the poll.

The Northern Hemisphere Is In The Grip Of A Major Resurgence In Cases Of COVID19. Do You Believe Australia Can Avoid A Similar Fate Until An Effective Vaccine Is Available And Being Widely Delivered?

Yes 95% (81)

No 4% (3)

I Have No Idea 1% (1)

Total votes: 85

A very large majority think we have solved the problem and it is all under control!  I am not sure I share the optimism!

Any insights on the poll welcome as a comment, as usual.

A good number of votes.

It must also have been a very easy question with 1/85 readers were not sure how to respond.

Again, many, many thanks to all those who voted!

David.

I am a little shocked at those results! You nail it with the "Northern Hemisphere" bit David. Corona Virus is normally a seasonal virus and while we seem to have dodged a bullet this winter its likely that we will face the epidemic next winter unless the miracle, first ever, safe corona virus vaccine arrives, which seems very unlikely and risky. The mortality of people < 70 without metabolic syndrome is less than normal influenza so locking down only the vulnerable when the time arrives is the scientific solution applied in the past, but the world has gone crazy apparently? We should be concentrating on improving population health now...

I think the key word in the statement is ‘can’ and why not, other nations in the Asia pacific region have done very well. If Australians could be a little more civilised and disciplined perhaps we can emulate some of our neighbours success.

@Paul, after witnessing the behaviours at Melbourne cup day, there is not a hope in hell of avoiding another outbreak
