AusHealthIT Poll Number 207 – Results – 2nd March, 2014.

Here are the results of the poll.

Has The Government Managed The Technical Aspects Of The PCEHR Implementation Properly, Given The Recent Revelations From Dr Haikerwal On The Poor Structure And Lack Of Apparent Safety Of Clinical Information In The Record.

No - They Have Been Incompetent 91% (82)

Probably Not 8% (7)

Probably 1% (1)

Yes - They Have Done A Great Job 0% (0)

I Have No Idea 0% (0)

Total votes: 90

It seems there is almost total consensus that DoH and NEHTA are not technically very capable!

Again, many thanks to all those that voted!

David.

I am sure there are very capable technical people in NEHTA, what would appear to be an issue is the technical leadership and design trade-offs. Still R5 of PCEHR is due so that will tell if the head of architecture and head of design a) can work together, b) are indeed the correct type of technical leadership, especially now NEHTA has moved on from Nash and HI and SMD.

I feel as though I'm shouting into the wind.

eHealth is not about technology, it's about information. With the PCEHR, there is no understanding of the information, it's life-cycle, its use, its quality, etc etc.

If you look at the current turmoil re care.data it's all about the data, not about the technology. At least they are arguing about the right thing, not like here in Australia, where it's all about technology and registrations.

Has anybody yet reported on a single improved health outcome as a result of access to information facilitated by the PCEHR?
