AusHealthIT Poll Number 341 – Results – 23rd October, 2016.

Here are the results of the poll.

Did The Senate Do The Right Thing Allowing Telstra Health To Proceed With Operation Of The National Cancer Screening Register?

Yes 7% (11)

No 89% (135)

I Have No Idea 4% (6)

A large majority seem to think the Senate got it wrong. I look forward to additional comments!

A very large turnout of votes.

Again, many, many thanks to all those that voted!

Perhaps we need another option in the current question. They shouldn't, but the last thing we need is another government IT project. I think we must have passed peak civilization.

I personally don't have an issue with Telstra as such, where the senate has let the side down is allowing a blatant disregard for due process to be sanctioned. How is it we are being told on one hand a new eHealth Strategy is needed and being developed, but on the other hand allowing major investments like this to proceed?

On the Strategy front can anyone point me to the national health strategy that the national ehealth/digital strategy supports? I am trying to understand the problems that need to be resolved to meet an agreed national vision for healthcare in Australia, or is this just based on spin the stakeholder bottle, if so I fear we will have statements like seamless, secure messaging, civil society etc form the pillars of a shopping list with no understanding of what the objectives are or how we will know when we have reached them

As far as I know we are currently a Strategy Free Zone with a new revised one being due before Christmas.

I have not heard anything much about this in months so the time frame and who is being consulted might have changed.

Does anyone have an update?

David.

Anon 2:05 makes a good point, what is the Health Stratey, without this the digital component is meaningless and will be a boat with no master and no compass

AHMAC?

As far as general Health Strategy is concerned I am pretty sure we don't have one written down. Can anyone advance on that?
