Here are the results of the poll.

Yes 17% (12)

No 53% (37)

I Have No Idea 30% (21)

It seems the improvement I found at RNSH might be a bit isolated!

A good turnout of votes.

Re your current pol - Should The Patient Be Required To Review And Approve A Discharge Summary Before It Is Uploaded To The myHR?

Fair crack of the whip. The patient is not qualified to pass judgement on clinical content? Where do you draw the line?

Perhaps you should be asking - Should the patient be required to treat him/her self in hospital? Face reality - a Discharge Summary is the hospital's summary record of the patient's stay in hospital at the time of discharge - it is not the patient's summary "Oh I had a terrible time, I nearly dies twice, bled profusely and am lucky to be alive.

So why has the governemnt put the myhealthrecord under the control of the patient re access and content?

A patient can hide a Discharge Summary, so in effect a patient can already Review And Approve A Discharge Summary, it's just not mandatory.

There's a good case (well, I think it's a good case,I keep making it) for not letting a patient near a point of care health record - they can talk to someone who understands the content and can interpret it for them.

If a patient wants a health record of their own, they can write one out themselves, using whatever technology suits them. Or get someone to do it for them.
